CheckEPC.co.uk is operated by Prime Eight, the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us at joe@primeeight.co.uk.
What we collect
- The property address and postcode you enter into the EPC checker.
- If you submit the lead form: your name, email address, telephone number, the number of rental properties you own, and the page or CTA that triggered the form.
- Standard server logs (IP address, user-agent) used to operate and secure the service.
How we use your information
- To return EPC results from the official UK EPC register and cache them for up to 24 hours to keep the service fast and reduce load on the upstream API.
- To send you a personalised upgrade plan by email when you request one.
- To contact you about the property you submitted, and to help connect you with relevant retrofit, ECO4 grant, or EPC assessment partners who may also contact you directly about your property.
Sharing your details with partners
When you submit the lead form, you explicitly consent to your name, email, phone number and property details being shared with one or more of our vetted retrofit, grant, or assessment partners. These partners may then contact you about your property, including by phone, email or SMS.
Partners are bound by their own data protection obligations under UK GDPR. We only share your details with partners after you have ticked the consent box on the lead form.
Lawful basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) when you submit the lead form, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the EPC checker service for the simple property lookup itself.
How long we keep your data
- EPC search cache: up to 24 hours.
- Lead submissions: up to 24 months from the date of submission, after which they are deleted unless you have entered an active commercial relationship with one of our partners.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to its processing, withdraw consent, or request that we restrict its use. To exercise any of these rights, email joe@primeeight.co.uk and we will respond within one calendar month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Opting out
You can opt out of further contact at any time by replying to any email from us or one of our partners with the word "unsubscribe", or by emailing joe@primeeight.co.uk. We'll remove your details from our systems and notify the partners we shared them with.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes to this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be notified to you by email if you have an active lead with us.
